Located at three kilometers from Turda, in a secluded authentic romanian location, the Obelisk of Mihai Viteazu’s tomb seems to stand guard with dignity at the gate of Mihai Vodă’s Church, a copy built after the Bucharest Monastery risen by Mihai Viteazul.

Built in 1977, the monument has a height of 1,601 cm and was designed by the sculptor Marius Butunoiu. The pyramid shape symbolizes the three main princedoms who were united under his reign, in 1601. Moreover, at the base of each side it can be observed representative emblems of each principality.

The tomb that houses Mihai Viteazu’s body is made of marble (the same material from which it was made Obelisk’s as well) and on it, it can be identified the prince’s seal.
